RECORDING SESSION WORK

In  mid 2018, I was asked to help with a very special project. It was made special  because all of the young musicians involved, emerged from the ranks of a local school I was teaching at. Not only are they great musicians and songwriters, but they are great young men and women as well. Emily Burgin who was their key songwriter, wrote some great songs which just needed to be recorded. The band made some money gigging so they could spend a day in the recording studio recording their originals songs. The guys from Tomohauk rocked up to Tommirock Studios in Newcastle west to record their first tracks with the expert help of Mitta Norath. Mitta not only engineered and produced their songs, but he also encouraged and guided them through their first recording session. If you are looking at recording for the first time, Mitta and his team at Tommirock are outstanding. The guys asked me to write and record a few brass lines for one of the tracks called "fear for your life". For this I layered 3 trumpet parts and 2 trombone parts to get the desired affect. This song has a serious Latin vibe which made it so easy to add a horn section to kick it up to the next level. Although the band is no longer together, they do have a few tracks on  youtube.
